ANDERSON, SC -

Anderson Police are investigating a armed robbery that happened at a convenience store early Wednesday night.

Sergeant David Creamer of the Anderson City Police Department said that officers were dispatched to the Plez U convenience store on Concord Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a armed robbery. Creamer said that a black male wearing a blue ski mask and red, black and gray colored jacket walked into the store and displayed a handgun to the clerk and demanded money.

According to Creamer, the suspect fled the store into a nearby neighborhood. A short time later, officers received a call about a man matching the suspect's description running through the backyard of a home.

A K9 officer was called to the scene as police officers searched the area for the suspect. The search was called off just after 7:30 pm.

If anyone has any information about the robbery they are asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
