A man from Clinton was arrested and charged after Laurens County deputies say they found a meth lab in his residence on Wednesday.

In a prepared statement, the Sheriff's Office stated that deputies went to an apartment at 605 North Adair Street in Clinton after receiving reports of suspicious activity at the residence. As the deputies were knocking on the door, they smelled an odor they believed to be consistent with the odor from a meth lab.

According to the statement, deputies spoke with the resident, 46-year-old Samuel Dickert, of Clinton, and found an operating meth lab inside. Technicians from the sheriff's office Methamphetamine Lab Removal Unit worked to remove the hazardous material from inside the apartment and officers from the State Law Enforcement Division were called in to dispose of the materials.

Dickert was charged with manufacturing meth, unlawful disposal of meth waste, possession with intent to distribute meth and simple possession of marijuana.
