One woman has been arrested and another is being sought after Laurens County Sheriff's deputies say they discovered items used to manufacture meth in an apartment.

In a prepared statement, Sheriff's Office officials said that deputies went to an apartment at 100 Clinton Manor Drive in Clinton to follow up on an investigation. As a result of the follow up, investigators say that numerous items that are commonly used to manufacture meth were found inside the residence, as well as other narcotics. In addition, a child was also living in the residence where the meth was being made, officials stated.

Deputies arrested 27-year-old Jessica Smith, of the home, and charged her with manufacturing meth, manufacturing meth in the presence of a child, unlawful disposal of meth waste and possession with intent to distribute meth. Deputies are also looking for 48-year-old Judith Knight Smith, of 3302 Warrior Creek Church Road in Gray Court, and have charged her with the same charges.

Jessica Smith was transported to the Johnson Detention Center. If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of Judith Knight Smith, please contact the Laurens County Sheriff's Office at (864) 984-4967.
