ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -

McLaughlin Body Company will bring a new facility to Anderson County and create 250 new jobs over the next five years.

The manufacturer of operator protection systems will invest $22 million in the industrial park at 5121 Old Pearman Dairy Road. The deal still needs final approval from Anderson county council next week.

The facility will manufacture operator stations and complex metal componentry and will be South Carolina's first supplier for the new Caterpillar plant in Georgia.

"The search for a new location was extensive and we felt South Carolina and Anderson County was the best choice for us," said John Mann, president of McLaughlin Body Company in a written statement.

The facility is expected to open in early 2014. The initial hiring will commence in the third and fourth quarters of 2013, and the company will partner with readySC for recruitment and training for the new operation.
