Military Deserter Arrested In Spartanburg County

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -

Spartanburg County arrested Joseph Champion Tuesday after more than 12 years on the run from the Army. Champion is accused of being a military deserter. The FBI asked Spartanburg deputies to find Champion. When deputies arrived at his home they were told by his wife that he was at work at the Spartanburg County Maintenance Shop on Broadcast Drive.

Champion is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center where he is awaiting transfer to authorities with the US Army.
