Greenville County Man Convicted Of Sexually Assaulting Young Girl

GREENVILLE, S.C. -

A Greenville County jury convicted 34 year old Robert Wilson Woods of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor First Degree and Lewd Act on a Minor.

Evidence presented at the trial established between June 1st, 2011 and September 29th, 2011, Woods assaulted an eight year old girl at a home where he lived with the child.

According to the release from the 13th Circuit Solicitor's Office, the child disclosed the abuse to a teacher and counselor at school, who then contacted authorities.

The release also states Woods was sentenced to 25 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections on the charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct.

Woods was sentenced to a ten years suspended sentence with five years of probation after his release from prison.

Woods will have to serve at least 85 percent of the 25 year sentence before he is eligible for parole.
