Greenville County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man wanted for attempted murder.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Jonathan Smith said that deputies had been searching for 43-year-old Ray Everette Dupree, of Greenville, since February for his involvement in a shooting last December. With the help of the public, deputies arrested Dupree without incident in Anderson County.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a report of shots fired at Highland Square Apartments on 200 Pine Creek Court Extension. When they arrived, they found one person had been shot in the leg. Throughout the course of the investigation, investigators say they received information that Dupree fired a handgun multiple times trying to shoot the victim.

Dupree is currently being held at the Greenville County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
