OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. -

The Oconee County Coroner's Office has ruled a weekend drowning as accidental.

Oconee County Emergency Services say they found the body of 35-year-old Charles David Keeney of Easley Sunday afternoon. Officials say he fell from a boat at Fall Creek Falls on Lake Keowee near Salem.

An autopsy performed Monday confirms Keeney died as a result of drowning. Officials say Keeney knew how to swim, but apparently made no effort to swim once he fell into the water. However, no traumatic injuries or pre-existing medical conditions were found to have caused him to have a seizure, as earlier reported by a witness.

Dive teams were called in to search the Fall Creek Area of Keowee, just south of the Highway 11 bridge. The Oconee County Coroner's Office says Keeney's body was located around 5:30 pm Sunday. Oconee County Emergency Services Fire Chief Charles King says Keeney's body was found in the waterfall cove and says Keeney was not wearing a life jacket.

Specimens collected at autopsy will be forwarded to the SLED laboratory for toxicology analysis. However, the coroner is ruling Keeney's death as accidental.
