WASHINGTON -

Monday is the deadline for filing annual income taxes with the IRS.

The agency said 97 million American taxpayers have already submitted their forms by the first of this month.

About 90 percent were done electronically.  The average refund is nearly $2800. That's down about $40 from last year.

If you owe taxes this year but aren't ready to file, you can apply for an extension.  To avoid late fees, you'll need to pay at least 90 percent of what's due.

And to celebrate, several companies across the country are offering freebies and deals.  You can cash in on some of them from Arby's, Chili's, McDonald's, Papa John's Pizza, Quik Trip, and AMC Theaters in this area.  Click here to see all of the deals.
