Mission Hospital in Asheville held a emergency preparedness exercise Tuesday evening
Mission Hospital in Asheville held a emergency preparedness exercise Tuesday evening as a precautionary measure in case of such tragedies as Monday's bombings at the Boston Marathon.
The preparedness was drill, which was planned before the Boston bombings, was held by Mission Hospital, as well as Emergency Medical Services and local law and fire department agencies. The organizations conducted a mock bus crash with mock volunteer victims and family members. The drill helped first responders and key personnel tested their response capabilities in case such an incident occurred.
"What it truly helps us do is look at our communications systems, our ability to work with our community EMS providers and our ability to ensure that we can triage and manage large numbers of individuals," said Dr. Jill Hoggard Green, President of Mission Hospital and Mission Medical Associates.
