Workshop on Proposed Improvements to I-26 Interchange

Posted: Updated:
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will hold a public workshop Thursday, April 18th on proposed improvements to the Interstate 26 and N.C. 191 (Brevard Road) interchange in Asheville.

The changes considered would help ease congestion and address lengthy backup on the I-26 exit ramps.

NCDOT is considering several alternatives for the new interchange design.  The project could also involve widening the N.C. 191 bridge over I-26 and re-routing some local roads permanently to accommodate the changes to N.C. 191.

The workshop will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm at the N.C. Arboretum Education Center on 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Way in Asheville.  The usual entry fee charged by the N.C. Arboretum will be waived for those who attend.

The public is invited to attend at any time during the workshop to speak individually with NCDOT officials, review project plans and submit comments. There will be no formal presentation made at the workshop.
