BELTON, S.C. -

A man is dead after going onto his ex-girlfriends property.

Just after 8 p.m. on Saturday night deputies responded to 625 Stringer Road in Belton for a shooting.

Charlie Boseman with the Anderson County Coroner's Office says a 63-year old man was shot and killed on his ex-girlfriends property. According to Boseman the shooting victim and his ex-girlfriend had been broken up for months and on Saturday they had been arguing.

63-year-old Robert Jones was found dead in the yard, with a gun laying beside him. It is unknown at this point who pulled the trigger, but the Sherriff's office says they think they have identified the shooter.

No charges have been filed yet and they say there is no public threat.

The coroner's office has ruled this as a homicide.
