Drive- By Shootings Have Greenville Co. Neighborhood Concerned

Posted: Updated:

Bobby Leamon has called Cypress Cove Court in Greenville County home for nearly 6 years.

She was devastated when a recent drive by shooting left her house riddled with bullet holes.

"My house got shot from the side the walkway entrance into the garage," Leamon said.

Greenville Deputies tell us the drive by shooting happened Sunday night when someone opened fire on Cypress Cove Court.

Spraying bullets into Leamon's home, her mailbox , and a neighbor's car.

"They just shot down through the neighborhood. My neighbors car got shot, the kids were out, anyone could have gotten shot," Leamon said.

Leamon says this isn't the first time bullets have hit her house.

Which is why she wants to see more deputies patrolling this area.

Deputies tell 7 On Your Side they frequently patrol the area, and have increased patrols until the person responsible for the shooting is caught.

"All I can say is we have the patrols there we are well aware of the situation. If you have concerns contact the sheriffs office and let us know what your concerns are and we will take the appropriate measure to make you feel safe in your community," Greenville County Deputy Jonathan Smith said.

Deputies say not only do they routinely patrol but deputies are also actively looking for the shooter.

"We are going to take a look at it, investigate it thoroughly to determine exactly what it was," Smith said.

Leamon says this time her family was lucky.

"If anybody was in my garage they would have gotten shot," Leamon said.

She says she hopes whoever targeted her community is caught before the damage is more permanent than a bullet hole in a mailbox.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office holds community meetings open to the public so you can voice your concerns about your community.

To find out when there is a meeting in your community you can contact the local Greenville County Sheriff's Office at (864) 271-5210.

7 On Your Side Investigations uncovered new documents that detail a “politically sensitive” proposal for overhauling the Greenville County EMS system. The plan would change the way ambulances respond in a 9-1-1 emergency and would give control of the life-saving service to the county's largest hospital chain, Greenville Health System.
