Over 700 people gathered outside Furman's Timmons Arena to participate in a run to benefit the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

The Fleet Feet Run For Boston was held at 6 p.m. Tuesday as runners from across the upstate took to the 2.62 mile course to help raise money for the victims. A Fleet Feet spokesman said that early estimates show that they raised over $10,000 thanks to the run.

"We were just blown away by the generosity of the number of people who showed up and donated," said Jon Stoehr of Fleet Feet. "This was worth it."

The event was originally scheduled to be held at the Fleet Feet store in Greenville. Stoehr said that originally 50-60 people were expected to participate but as the week went on, the number of participants grew and the event was expanded to the arena.
