Greenville Scottish Games Releases 2013 Schedule of Events

GREENVILLE, S.C. -

The Greenville Scottish Games has released its schedule for next month's big event.

Organizers of the event say Greenville is located in the highest concentration of Scots-Irish descent in the country. The celebration of culture will be held May 23rd - May 25th.

The event will kick off with the Gallabrae experience on Thursday. The group will provide music for the Piedmont Natural Gas Downtown Alive event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in NOMA Square.

The Great Scot! Parade will follow on Friday, May 24th at 6 p.m. It will start at the corner of East North Street and Main Street. A whole cast of Scottish characters will parade down Main Street to the Peace Center where the Great Scot! Ceilidh will be held. The unique concert will feature Cleghorn and Albannach. It starts at 7:30 p.m. on the TD Stage.

Furman University will be a host of activities for the final day of events. The Greenville Scottish Games will be held there from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will include everything from pipes and drum competitions to highland dancing, a British car show, and great food. There will even be an Opening Ceremony for the event, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Once Saturday's events are over, the crowd will be invited to wind down with The Celtic Jam at 6:30. The concert will feature the following bands:

  • Cleghorn
  • Seven Handle Circus
  • Rathkeltair
  • Albannach
