Main Street Work In Hendersonville Could Last 2 More Months

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. -

Hendersonville city officials are asking business merchants along Main Street to be patient as construction work on streetscape improvements continue.

The Hendersonville Times-News reports interim City Manager Lee Galloway says it may be another two months before work is complete.

A letter was sent to downtown merchants, property owners and tenants Monday outlining upcoming work - which includes crosswalk installations and a final pour of asphalt that will cause temporary road closures through the week.

Galloway tells the Times-News that wet weather this year has caused the contractor to lose close to four weeks of construction time.  Galloway also says the installation of brick-paver crosswalks from Allen Street to Seventh Avenue have caused disruptions.

Most of the work is being done on Main between Fifth and Seventh Avenues along with the brick crosswalk work and road resurfacing.
