ASHEVILLE, N.C. -

A U.S. District judge sentenced Lawrence Hutson to 36 years in prison for transporting child pornography. Hutson must also register as a sex offender and will have a lifetime of supervised release.

In January 2012, Hutson pleaded guilty to transporting child pornography images. Court documents show officers found a USB thumb drive that belong to Hutson. On the drive were more than 4,000 images of child pornography, including videos.

Hutson had two previous convictions in Pennsylvania for sexual contact offenses upon a minor. The judge added extra time to Hutson's sentence, because of these prior convictions.

Hutson has been in local federal custody in the Western District of North Carolina since September 2011.
