Captain Mitchell McAllister of the Greenwood City Police Department said the call came in around 7:15 p.m. after a man was found laying beside the railroad tracks between Sullivan Street and Beadle Avenue. McAllister said that early indications are that the man, who lives in Greenwood, was walking along the tracks when he was struck by the train.

The man was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital due to his injuries, which included a severe arm injury.
