Patients now have more options for cancer treatment in the Upstate.
Gibbs Cancer Center and Research Institute opened a new facility at Pelham to serve people in Greer. A ribbon cutting will be held Wednesday. The cancer center will offer the same services as Spartanburg including radiation, clinical trials, and medical oncology.
Radiation Oncologist Dr. Daniel Fried said, "Radiation is generally given on a number of treatments, so 5 days a week for a number of weeks, and it's better for our patients if they don't have to drive far in order to get that care".
The facility will also have comforting features like a garden and natural light.
Gibbs expanded in Gaffney about a year and a half ago.
