Normal Is Never Normal

It's been an interesting spring, so far, weather-wise.  But aren't they all?

Spring is a time of transition…as the northern hemisphere of Earth is now getting more sunlight…you see that as longer "days"…we're also gradually getting warmer.  Typical temperatures now are much higher than a month ago…they'll be higher still in another month.  Just a part of that gradual transition from winter to summer.

Sometimes, like last year, the warmer air builds in early.   Sometimes, like this year, it doesn't.

One thing is certain; spring is always a time for rapid weather changes as what's left of winter dukes it out with a summer that wants to get here.

Yes, spring has "normal" temperatures and "normal" precipitation.  Those numbers aren't really normal…they're averages for a particular date over the past 30 years.

Normal for spring is seeing the weather bounce around.

In other words, this time of year, there's nothing normal about a sunny day with a high of 77.  Weather like that is just plain weird!
