Plans for Krispy Kreme In Anderson On Hold

Posted: Updated:

Plans for an Anderson location of Krispy Kreme are on hold for now.

The Anderson Independent Mail reports Glen Reese, owner of a Spartanburg Krispy Kreme, says he has postponed plans for a location on Main Street in Anderson.

Reese says he plans to assess if the economy, location and market could support the new business and look for better interest rates on loans.

Reese says it may take longer than he thought, but he is optimistic he can bring a location for the doughnut franchise to Anderson.

He also says he wants to see if he can get tax incentives from the city of Anderson and the county for the $2 million project.

The Independent Mail also reports a meeting on Friday with corporate leaders at Krispy Kreme did reach approval for the Main Street location, but there was concern about a dessert shop opening on the already congested downtown street.
