HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. -

Henderson County emergency officials say heavy rain has caused a number of mud slides on Monday morning.

U.S. 74A is closed at Pump Road in the Gerton Community. Crews plan to clean up the mud slide on Monday after daylight.

NCDOT crews expect to reopen a single lane in the next couple of hours, with the entire road expected to reopen by the end of Monday.

Drivers will need to take Cane Creek Road or U.S. 64 around the slide.  7 On Your Side photographer Jess Winfrey says road blockades are up and power lines are down about a mile from the location.

A minor mud slide was reported on U.S. 74 and Highway 9 near Rutherford County. A neighbor tells us mud came down Sunday afternoon that covered about 20 to 30 yards of pavement.

Road crews needed between three and four hours to clear the road

One lane of  N.C. 9 south of Black Mountain is open to traffic in Buncombe County. NCDOT crews are surveying the area.
