BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. -

Buncombe County Emergency Services confirms a Norfolk Southern worker was killed Monday morning in a mudslide near Black Mountain.

We're told the victim died east of Black Mountain near the line between Buncombe and McDowell counties around 2 a.m.

Jerry Vehaun of BCES confirms two Norfolk Southern workers were on the scene of a mudslide when a second slide knocked their vehicle off the track.

One worker was buried by the slide. The body was recovered around 7:30 a.m.  He has been identified as Joseph Drewnoski, 33, of Waynesville.  He was an assistant foreman with Norfolk Southern since 2005.

Robin Chapman from Norfolk Southern reports the other worker is all right.
