SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

A woman in Spartanburg is accused of chasing and hitting a man with her vehicle, and threatening him with a screwdriver.

Police say they were called to Highland Avenue and Henry Street around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday.

When they got there, they say they found the 39-year-old woman trying to stab the man with the screwdriver.

After authorities got her to drop the tool, they say she started to run after the man, shouting "I'm going to kill him."

She was taken into custody a short time later before she could catch the victim.

Investigators say the Spartanburg woman hit the man at least once with her vehicle during the chase.  She is also accused of running over a stop sign.

The man was taken to the hospital.  Officials don't believe his injuries are life threatening.

The woman was taken to the Spartanburg County Detention Center.   Authorities are working to get warrants for attempted murder.

The investigation continues.  Keep checking back for updates.
