A letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service has been taken to the hospital after a crash involving a postal vehicle.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says it happened just after 11 a.m. Wednesday on Mauldin Road near Fairforest Way in Greenville County.

Investigators tell 7 On Your Side the driver of the mail truck stopped to deliver mail when a tractor trailer rain into the back of the vehicle, pushing it into a pole.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Marco Lopez, was cited with driving too fast for conditions.

Employees were called to the scene to secure the mail.  The mail on the vehicle will be delivered Wednesday, according to USPS officials.

The extent of the mail truck driver's injuries are unknown at this time.
