NRC Schedules Open House To Discuss Oconee Nuclear Power Plant

Posted: Updated:
SENECA, S.C. -

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has scheduled an open house for Thursday, May 9th to discuss the agency's assessment of safety performance during 2012 for the Oconee nuclear power plant.

The plant is operated by Duke Energy and is located near Seneca.

The open house is scheduled for Thursday, May 9th from 6 pm to 7:30 pm in the Oconee World of Energy on 7812 Rochester Highway in Seneca.

NRC staff will be available to answer questions about the safety performance of the plant as well as NRC oversight and inspection.

The NRC staff says all three units at the plant operated safely in 2012.  They also say there were no inspection findings or performance indicators that would cause the NRC to increase the level of oversight or inspection.
