Artisphere Concludes In Downtown Greenville

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, S.C. -

Artisphere concluded Sunday in downtown Greenville as thousands of people turned out to enjoy the three day festival.

The event featured a little bit of everything from woodworking and photography to ceramics and painting. In the performance art category over 60 performances were held on four stages.

"Without the support of the people and the town and the business that support the art festivals also, I would not be doing this for a living," said Melanie Miller of the Alchemist;s Garden.

"The real unique thing about Artispshere is the opportunity it affords you to interact with the artists," Artisphere's Executive Director Kerry Murphy said. "It's a very approachable way to be engaged in the arts. Whether you're a novice or whether you have a fantastic collection in your home".

For artists such as Orlando Blekfeld it is an opportunity to display their talents.

Blekfeld is a first-time participant at the annual festival. So, naturally he is excited to have his work on display.

"I applied and I got in," Blekfeld said. "It's really nice. They don't have a lot of photographers so its an honor."

Out of 900 applicants, Blekfeld was among 120 artists who were chosen to participate in the event. For festival-goers, was a chance to view and enjoy whatever arts they desire.

"I like the woodworking," said Roger Beckett. "That's my favorite. Pictures of Italy the quant streets I like that."
