UPDATE: Salem Police arrest 3 in meth lab bust

Salem Police say a third man has been arrested in connection with the meth lab bust on Thursday.

Officers charged 52-year-old Kenneth Junior Shelton with the same five charges as his son Kenneth Jakob Shelton, and Lisa Mason.

Thursday, May 9th

Salem Police arrested a man and a woman in connection with a methamphetamine bust on Thursday afternoon.

Officers tell us a drug investigation lead them to a home in the 300 block of North Bruffey Street.

Members of the Salem Police Department, State Police, and Roanoke DEA Task Force served a search warrant, and say they found an active meth lab in the basement of the home.

Officers say they found 25-year-old Kenneth Jakob Shelton, and 50-year-old Lisa Gail Mason inside the home during the raid.  Both Shelton and Mason face the following charges:

  • Manufacturing 100 grams or more of methamphetamine
  • Possession of methamphetamine precursors
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Manufacturing methamphetamines within 1,000 feet of a school
  • Possessing a firearm while manufacturing methamphetamine
  • Conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine

Shelton and Mason are being held without bond at the Roanoke County-Salem Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, and police say additional charges are pending.
