The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report of a man who identified himself as a police officer during a traffic dispute with another motorist Wednesday night.

According to the report, Spartanburg County 911 dispatchers received a call around 9:30 p.m. after a couple were pulled over at the intersection of Apple Valley Road and Berry Shoals Road. According to the report, the couple stated that they were on Reidville Road and going onto Highway 296 when a vehicle pulled in behind them and the driver began to flash headlights and "flag them" to get them to pull over.

The report states that the couple turned onto Apple Valley Road and came upon the intersection at Berry Shoals Road when the driver of the car stopped and got out. The unidentified man approached the couple's car and began yelling at the couple, telling them that they were driving "15 miles over the speed limit" and to "be more careful."

The couple asked the man if he was in a marked patrol car or not and then asked him if he was a police officer. The man promptly answered, "Yes, I am a police officer" and further stated his name was "Christopher King."

The couple described the vehicle the man was driving as a newer model, silver-grey Hyundai with a large dent across the driver's side.
