No bond for brothers arrested for home invasion, battery in Polk

Posted: Updated:
POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

Two brothers captured in connection with the home invasion and sexual battery in Poinciana appeared in front of a judge Friday afternoon in Polk County. No bond was issued for either, they will both stay in jail.

The brothers are accused of randomly picking a family home Monday night, tying up a father and son then "brutally" raping the mother. They washed the woman with bleach.

Detectives arrested Richard Cruz a day after the crime. They caught up with Danny Cruz by Wednesday evening. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said this was one of the most "ruthless attacks" they had seen in a very long time.

"Apparently they've been watching too much television," he added. "The bleach was an effort to do away with evidence."

Sheriff Judd said there was a "mountain" of evidence pointing to the brothers. The brothers will now face many charges including armed burglary, armed robbery, armed sexual battery and kidnapping, according to the PCSO report.

"We are very grateful to our law enforcement community, especially the Kissimmee Police, for helping us locate and arrest Danny Cruz," said Sheriff Judd. "The two men responsible for these heinous crimes are now behind bars, which will hopefully give the victims some solace. We hope the Cruz brothers spend the rest of their lives in prison for what they've done."
