Tips To Avoid Falling For Mother's Day Scams

Posted: Updated:

For all the last minute, Mother's Day shoppers, experts have a warning. They say, don't get in a hurry trying to find the perfect gift for mom and end up falling for a bogus deal.

Scambook tracks consumer complaints, and says watch out for bogus online stores. The deals are often too good to be true.

Also, watch out for e-card phishing. Hackers can embed them with viruses. Your mom may end up with her information stolen.

They also say to be careful who you order from online. Ordering locally, is a safer bet.

The Better Business Bureau says make sure you research florists, or other gift companies before you buy.

The biggest complaints they hear about are gifts being late, wrong, or just never delivered.

They say it's a good idea to request a written receipt for the order.

Ask the company about their refund policy if the delivery is late, or arrives in bad condition.
