Freeze Warning In NC Mountains Tonight

Posted: Updated:
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

A freeze warning is in effect from midnight until 9 AM Monday for most of the North Carolina mountains.   As of Sunday afternoon, Henderson County and the mountain areas of Polk, Rutherford, and McDowell Counties were not in the warning.

Overnight, temperatures near or below freezing will be possible in many mountain locations. especially for elevations 3000 feet and up.  Protect what plants you can for the overnight chill.

High pressure will be in control of our weather for the next few days.  Initially, we'll be dealing with below-average temperatures.  By Wednesday, expect the warmth to back, along with an increase in humidity.

This will set us up for a chance for isolated to widely scattered, late afternoon/early evening showers and thunderstorms for the end of the week and into the weekend.  The mountains will be the primary location for any pop-up storms, although there will be a slight chance of a few dropping into the Upstate.
