PELZER, SC -

A man who was believed to have drowned suffered a medical condition before he fell into the Big Creek Watershed Reservoir in Anderson County.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said that Terry Keith Fricks, 61, of Pelzer, was out fishing with a friend around 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon when he began complaining of head pains. Shortly after complaining, McCown said that Fricks fell into the water due to a medical problem.

Fricks' friend jumped in the water and managed to pull him to shore where he began performing CPR. Emergency responders arrived on scene and transported Fricks to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he later died.

McCown said that an autopsy will be performed Sunday or early next week to determine the exact cause of death.
