Spartanburg, SC -

A motorcycle ride was held Saturday morning to help benefit Spartanburg County Crime Stoppers.

The ride started at Spartanburg City Hall and ended a little over an hour later at Big Daddy's on Asheville Highway. About 10 motorcyclists participated in the event with all proceeds going to Spartanburg County Crime Stoppers, which is a non-profit organization that relies on donations to keep operating.

According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, Crime Stoppers received 672 tips in 2012 and with the help of the community, deputies and officers were able to make 26 arrests, clear 18 cases and recover $17,329 worth of stolen property. During the same period, Crime Stoppers paid anonymous tipsters a total of $2,530 for information. The Sheriff's Office said that even though it is early in May, they are on track to exceed the 2012 totals.
