GREER, S.C. -

As you start to bring home more and more fresh produce, you may see a familiar pest -- fruit flies.  Yes, they're annoying.  But imagine having a swarm inhabit your house.

Before moving to Greer about six years ago, Mathew Franken's home in Florida became infested with fruit flies.

"We actually had what seemed to be a swarm that descended on the town," Mathew Franken said.

He since has learned, no matter where you go, they'll follow.

Franken has bought and made all kinds of concoctions in the hopes that something would kill the annoying, little creatures.

"None of those seemed to do the trick, so we started mixing and matching," says Franken.

A little of this with a little of that and Franken ended up with a secret weapon he calls Aunt Fannie's FlyPunch.  It was developed in his garage with the help of his family.

Franken won't reveal what's in it, but the container he designed that holds the "secret sauce" acts like a funnel, so when the flies come in, they don't go back out.

Franken says he came up with the product because he needed it.  Now he's learning others do too.

"We have actually got an inventory problem," says Franken.  "We have too much demand and not enough supply."

Franken says he never imagined Aunt Fannie's FlyPunch would "fly" with so many people, but it goes to show, an everyday problem can be made into a profitable solution.
