SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -

Spartanburg County deputies arrested a man, after he was caught peeping at women visiting a local tanning salon.

It happened at Ultra Tan, which is located at 3720 Highway 9 in Spartanburg. Deputies say a woman was undressed, preparing to lay in the tanning bed, when she heard a noise in the room next door. She looked up and spotted 25-year-old David Raul Castruita looking over the partition between the rooms.

Deputies say the victim told them the noise that first got her attention sounded like a cell phone being dropped. They say Castruita may have been trying to use the phone to take pictures of the victim.

Police reports say footprints were found in the chair seat and on the arms of the chair in the room where Castruita was apparently hiding. Investigators also found hand prints on top of the partition where the victim had spotted him watching her.

Deputies spoke with the manager at the tanning salon, who identified Castruita as a regular customer. He was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with one count of Peeping Tom, Eavesdropping or Peeping. Castruita is currently in the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing.
