Meteorologist Gannon Medwick bids farewell to WNCT-TV

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Gannon here with one last thank you...

In my nine years as morning and noon meteorologist here... I've done roughly 45,000 weather hits... so I'm rarely speechless. I've covered numerous snowstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes... so I'm not easily overwhelmed.

But today... I'm just about speechless and overwhelmed with your kind words and well-wishes over these last few days. THANK YOU for trusting me for weather information... whether sunny or severe!

I'm joining WECT-TV in Wilmington shortly... so I'm thrilled to be staying in the coastal region of this beautiful state... and among some of the most weather-savvy and storm-ready TV viewers in the entire country.

Again... THANK YOU! And God bless!

Original article posted Wednesday, May 22:

Gannon here with a big announcement: this Friday, May 24 will be my final day with WNCT. I've been at the morning and noon grind here since 2004 and I'd like to sincerely thank you for trusting me for weather information. We've been through a lot of storms together! ...and thankfully a lot of peaceful days too.

I will miss so many people and places in this area but I'm not going that far! In June I'll be starting as chief meteorologist with WECT-TV in Wilmington. It's an opportunity my wife, daughters and I are thrilled about... especially since we can remain a part of this great state.

I'd love for you to stay in touch with me through my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/gannon.medwick.meteorologist. After all, I'll be "just down the road".

Thank you for helping make these past nine years great!
