The Aloft Festival in Simpsonville was a big success this year with some of the best weather the festival has seen in years, but it was not a completely smooth ride.
Security had to turn people away late Monday evening when they found a bag with questionable contents. It took some time to check it safely, but it turned out to be a cooking pot. During that time some visitors had paid for parking but were denied entrance. Organizers say they tried to reimburse those they could.
Also on Monday one balloon drifted into a nearby neighborhood. The residents of Five Forks Plantation in Simpsonville got to see a landing up close and personal. Organizers say the balloon was at no time in danger and the landing was normal, despite the fact that the balloon did not touch down at Heritage Park.
