2nd arrest made in Greenville shooting

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Greenville Police have arrested two men in connection with one of two shootings that happened in the city last Thursday night.

The GPD Warrant Squad located and arrested 27-year-old Darien Cunningham Monday. They also picked up 25-year-old Christopher Hardy, who was hiding in his grandmother's house.

Cunningham and Hardy are accused of shooting Koki Purvis in the back outside apartments near Hartford Street behind the Greenville Hilton. Purvis then drove himself to a convenience store on Greenville Blvd. before falling out of his vehicle.

Cunningham is charged with one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, and other misdemeanor charges.

Hardy is charged with AWDWIKISI, Conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and Robbery with a dangerous weapon.  He has prior arrests for larceny, assault, drugs, and communicating threats.

Cunningham is in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond while Hardy was jailed under a $500,000 secured bond.

Greenville Police are investigating two separate shootings that happened within an hour Thursday night.

The first one happened around 8:30.

Police say someone shot Koki Purvis in the back outside apartments near Hartford Street behind the Hilton.
     
Purvis then drove himself to a convenience store on Greenville Boulevard and fell out of the car.
     
Police rushed to the scene and EMS took him to Vidant Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.
     
Police are still looking for the suspects. They say they're driving a dark-colored jeep.
