Vandals Saw Down Trees at Gaffney High School

Posted: Updated:

Vandals sawed down four Bradford Pear trees this week in front of Gaffney High School in Cherokee County.

Principal Marlene Davis says she noticed the trees had been buzzed down when she got to school Thursday morning.

Davis doesn't think cutting down the trees is a prank because pranks, she says, are something that can be cleaned up and wiped away. Instead, what happened this week is a "crime," she says.

Police are investigating but don't have any suspects, Davis said.

Surveillance video at the school didn't capture anything because the vandals struck at night.

The trees were planted 13 years ago when the school opened.
