Five Sets Of Twins Set To Graduate From Upstate High School

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, S.C. -

As high school seniors across the Upstate are wrapping up their final exams and preparing to accept their diplomas, a certain group of graduates at a Greenville County school are getting some attention.  "It sets us apart from other schools in my opinion," says senior Shawn Fowler.  Fowler and his sister make one up set, among five sets of twins in Berea High School's 2013.  "Going to college you can say, you want to know something cool about my school?  We have five sets of twins, and nobody else can say that," says Fowler's twin sister, Shawna.

In addition to the Fowler twins, Dustin and Daniel Delegatti, Casie and Lacie Passmore, Josue and Lidia Gonzales and Keon and Keonna Brooks will also be graduating with the class of 2013.  Most of the twins say they've been compared their whole lives, especially during school.  But each claim they have their own different personality.  "I like school, and he doesn't," Keonna Brooks jokes.

Still, they all have that common connection.  "Brothers and sisters might move on, but a twin, they're your twin, and you have that bond," says Lidia Gonzales.

Guidance counselors at the school only discovered there were five sets of twins in this year's class as they were preparing graduation letters.  According to the twins, though, the gift of genetics has helped them their entire school career.  "Not only do you have your own self striving to be successful, you also have someone else who cares about you pushing you the whole time," says Shawn.

Most of the group are headed to college after taking a break for the summer, but they say their twin connection will tie them together for life.  "It's a new chapter, we're going to start making our own paths, but we'll always have each other."
