SARASOTA COUNTY, FL -

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested two men for a shooting that occurred during a road rage incident late Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies say the incident happened on US 41 near River Road and started when the two men stopped on the side of the road and argued over driving behavior. Detectives say 23-year-old Brandon Nelson got a shotgun out of the back of his car and pumped it while arguing with 30-year-old Jason Aitchinson of Ft. Myers.

Atchinson went back to his car and got a 20 gauge shotgun and approached Nelson's driver side window. Nelson drove off and Atchinson followed him.  Atchinson fired a single bird shot into the back passenger side window of Nelson's vehicle.

Nelson and his 17-year-old passenger were injured by the shot.

Atchinson was arrested on Thursday night and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Shooting into a Vehicle and Discharging a Firearm in Public. He is being held on $22,500 bond.

Nelson was arrested on Friday evening and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
