A Clemson University Police Officer was arrested and charged after he allegedly stole gas from the university.

The State Law Enforcement Division charged Jason Daniel Cassell, 39, of Pickens, with misconduct in office and misdemeanor petit larceny.

According to warrants obtained from SLED, Cassell took several gallons of gasoline from the university's motor pool on May 18. According to a report, Cassell was on duty at the time and pumped the gas, valued at $15, into a red container and later strapped it onto the back of his personal motorcycle.

The warrants state that the incident was caught on video.  Cassell has since been terminated from his position.

SLED investigated the incident at the request of the Clemson University Police Department. Citing the investigation, a Clemson spokesman said that the school could not comment on the matter.
