Brevard, N.C. -

A plane came to a stop at a western North Carolina elementary school Thursday afternoon.

Officials with the Brevard Fire Department say they were called to the scene at Brevard Elementary School for a report of a plane that had crashed.

The Federal Aviation Administration says around 4:40 p.m., the pilot of a Cessna 182 declared an emergency with loss of engine power and landed in a field.  The flight was headed from Paulding County Airport in Georgia headed to Roanaoke, Virginia.

Officials say the pilot was not injured during the landing.

Air 7 is over the school and shows video of a plane with its nose on the ground at the edge of a field of grass.

A witness tells 7 On Your Side they heard a sputtering engine sound and then it just stopped.
