ANDERSON COUNTY - Neil Richardson can tell you anything you need to know about daylilies. Richardson's yard is filled with thousands of flowers.

"There's so many different colors, so many different shapes some of the daylilies are tall, some are short," Richardson says.

Richardson's display garden has 2,300 different types of daylilies that's open to the public, but he says his barely scratching the surface. There are 72,000 different types of daylilies in the world.

"I like to think I've got some of the prettier 2,300 that are out there," Richardson says.

The flowers' names are giving to them by whoever creates the new breed. Each flower has it's own characteristics and charms.

"My father was the poppy man back at home in Lancaster County, South Carolina," Richardson says.

Richardson believes his love of daylilies comes from his dad. He says they both share the love of sharing their flowers with people. Anyone can come look at Richardson's daylilies for free.
