You know, once a month we give away an award called the Caring for Carolina's Award to people that donate their time to help other people.
We surprised Donna Lawter-Dulin with our award.
You don't know a thing about this?
They just called you out front, said stand on the grass with the tall grey headed guy.
That's what he said, that's exactly what he said!
Well you have friends here at Chesnee Middle and they tell me that even though you work here, you show up at the kids' concerts, you buy ice cream for those that might not get it that day. You've helped organize a Relay for Life and raised, what, almost $20,000 over the last 2 or 3 years.
You like working here?
Oh, I love it! It's the best place on earth.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and Donna made me her personal mission project. She wanted to fight with me. It wasn't enough to just say I'll pray for you.
I've known Donna for years, and years, and years. She was actually the Custodian when I came through Chesnee Middle School. About 5 years ago when I started this job she took me under her wing and we've just been two peas in a pod since then. She just helps me out with anything and everything that I ask her and she is truly my best friend here at Chesnee Middle School
She's always there when someone needs a ride, or somebody doesn't have ice cream money that day. She's there for the kids, and she was there for me and it was really wonderful to have someone in my corner.
I wouldn't want to do anything else with my life. This has been the most rewarding thing I have ever done.
You are the Caring for the Carolina's winner for the month of June! Let's give her a nice hand ladies and gentlemen!
