ABBEVILLE, S.C. -

Abbeville hired Mark E. Hall as its new police chief on Tuesday.

"The interview process was very competitive, and Mark demonstrated throughout the process that he has exceptional character, integrity, and professionalism to serve as the City of Abbeville Police Chief," said City Manager David McCuen.

Hall comes to Abbeville from the Greenwood Police Department, where he served as a Lieutenant. During his time there, Hall was a shift supervisor, responsible for preserving evidence and overall integrity of major crime scenes, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and the overall safety and well-being of other officers.

Hall has 11 years total in law enforcement. During that time, he also served at the Abbeville County Sheriff's Department, as a key member of the Abbeville County Bloodhound Tracking Team. As a South Carolina State Constable, Hall specialized in narcotics within Abbeville County. He participated in undercover drug buys, methamphetamine lab raids, extensive surveillance, and criminal apprehension.

In addition, Mark is the owner of Hall Utility Construction Company, a family-owned company since 1989. Mark has since stepped down as manager of the company, but previously served as the President and CEO of the company which had sales in excess of $3.5 million.

Mark lives with his wife and two children in Abbeville County. He attends Tranquil United Methodist Church and is a member of the Professional Kennel Club (PKC), Southern Police Benevolent (PBA), South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers' Association (SCLEOA), National Rifle Association (NRA), and several Chambers of Commerce.
