Tornado Confirmed In Greenville Co. During Monday's Storms

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado in the Upstate during Monday's storms.

They say the EF1 tornado touched down 2.5 miles east-northeast of Piedmont in Greenville County around 1:20 p.m.

NWS officials say it had an estimated maximum wind speed of 90 miles-per-hour.  Its path was estimated to be around 80 yards with, staying on the ground for about a mile-and-a-half.

They say the tornado touched down in a wooded area northeast of Lauren Terrace Road where it uprooted and broke several trees, taking down a power line before dissipating.
