PICKENS, S.C. -

Work is underway to transform an old rail line into a recreational trail.

According to the city of Pickens, both Easley and Pickens city councils approved resolutions to buy rail line property, known as the Pickens Doodle line, from Pickens Railway Co. Each city will pay $250,000.

The line runs about 8.5 miles between the two cities.
