A teenager was arrested after a young child was found wandering in the yard of an apartment complex.

Lieutenant Michael Hildebrand of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office stated that Jeremy Anthony Williams, 18, of Greenville, was charged with unlawful neglect of a child, after deputies found the two-year-old child walking alone in the parking area of Cedar Grove Apartments around noon Wednesday.

According to warrants obtained from the sheriff's office, Williams was responsible for the child's welfare and allowed the child to walk outside, where he stayed in the 90-degree heat for over an hour. A resident noticed the child and called deputies, who responded and found the child.

Williams was being held at the Greenville County Detention Center.
